The Idea
An intimate room built around a serious sound system and thousands of records. Where listening is the focus, sides and full albums play curated by the host and visiting DJs.
A daily program designed around a theme, artist, label, or genre. Listening parties for album releases, private events, and surprises.
Coffee and tea by day. Beer, sake, and natural wine by night with light fare. Recorded music the way it's meant to be heard. No shuffle. No algorithm. No screens. Just a record, a room, and a system worth the trip across town.
Two things live in the name. There's the ongaku kissa, Japan's culture for focused listening. And there's Big Star, whose "Kizza Me" opens Third/Sister Lovers: one of the great American bands, beloved for their incredible songwriting and the culture they inspired.
